The Bolivian government assured that the economy had a year-on-year growth of at least 7.0% in the first half of the year, meaning a recovery after the 2020 crisis.
According to the Minister of Economy, Marcelo Montenegro, “The reactivation plan that we are implementing is already generating clear benefits, with the growth of 5.3% in the first quarter and, certainty will be greater than 7% when we have the figures for June”.
He also pointed out that “We are doing well recovering the economy with the leadership of President Luis Arce and the reinstatement of the Social Community Productive Economic Prospectus that stabilized and generated growth with social justice before the coup d’état”.
“The accrued economic growth for all of 2021 could be comfortably higher than the 4.4% of GDP projected by the government,” the minister said.
“International organizations, such as the World Bank and the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, have projected the Bolivian economy will grow by more than 5.0% this year,” according to El Mundo.
The Minister of Economy also highlighted the positive impact of measures taken by the current government, such as the promotion of public investments, the payment of an anti-hunger bonus, the partial refund of taxes to low-income people, and soft credit programs for small companies.
